How to Become a Music Producer
Food for thought..
I've dedicated countless hours to producing music, and it's been a transformative journey. When I first started, I didn't aim to become a music producer; my initial goal was simply to record my vocals over other people's tracks. (leasing other’s instrumentals).
However, as I delved deeper into music production, I discovered a wide array of tools and techniques that took Me On An Endless Journey.
One of the most vital lessons I’ve learned is the power of persistence. Early on, I had the passion but lacked the technical execution; however, spending time in professional recording studios helped me bridge the gap between my raw ideas and high-end production. Through that process, I’ve refined my approach and mastered the quality side of my craft, successfully developing a polished sound that carries my own unique style and creative twist.
There were many times when I took breaks from producing music, but I always returned with renewed determination. This persistence has paid off, as I've managed to create around 200 to 300 songs over the years. (I’m proud of this accomplishment.)
Becoming a music producer isn't just about making music; it's also about understanding the business side of things.
For example, I've had to learn a lot about internet marketing, which is essential for promoting my work and reaching a broader audience. This involves everything from mastering social media platforms to understanding SEO and creating engaging content to attract listeners.
Another common question is about the tools I use.
Over time, I've experimented with various digital audio workstations (DAWs), plugins, and hardware to find what works best for my style. Each tool offers different features, and learning to use them effectively has been a significant part of my journey.
Ableton is hands down my favorite tool
so easy to use, and workflow is a game changer
I mostly use stock Ableton plugins for my mixes
A Good Microphone, Good Audio Interface, And Good Studio Monitor (aka Speakers) Are A Must..
For those wondering if becoming a music producer is a struggle, the answer is yes—it requires dedication, continuous learning, and a passion for music. However, the satisfaction of creating something uniquely yours makes all the hard work worthwhile.
My journey in music production has been long and challenging, but incredibly rewarding. It's a continuous process of learning and growth, and I'm excited to see where it takes me next.
